Student Orientation, Advising and Registration (SOAR)
Welcome to Lincoln College! Whether you’re joining us as a first time college student or transfer, SOAR marks the official beginning of your college adventure.
Student Orientation, Advisement, and Registration (SOAR) is a program designed to introduce you to many aspects of life at Lincoln College. You will meet with key members of our faculty, staff, and student body. This website will assist you in your transition to Lincoln College. We invite you to peruse through its pages to find orientation schedules, important forms and dates, and many other resources.
We are very excited to join you in your new journey as a Lynx. You’ve made a wise choice. Lincoln College is a great place to study and live. Your opportunities are endless. Because of its importance, it is REQUIRED that all new students attend a SOAR.

Travel & Scheduling
Plan your travel to arrive on campus during the SOAR check-in time between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. If not, you will likely miss some sessions that cannot be made up without considerable inconvenience to you. Check-out for Orientation will be after closing remarks at 1:00 p.m. on the final day of SOAR.
What should I bring?
First year students and parents/guardians will stay in two different locations. You should bring:
- Bedding material for a long twin bed, including pillow (residence halls are air conditioned)
- Alarm clock
- Washcloth and towel
- Water bottle
- Money for snacks, souvenirs, etc. from the Lincoln College Book Store
Students are required to stay on campus. Parents/guardians are welcome to stay in the residence halls, but may also purchase a hotel room.
Parenting a first-year college student is a unique emotional experience in that it can be exciting, rewarding, frustrating, and traumatic – all within the same 24-hour period. Throughout SOAR, you’ll be given information on helping your student make wise decisions, knowing how much and what types of communication are effective, and fostering your student’s growth and development.
